Vintage wardrobe by Vittorio Dassi

Often mentioned alongside Paolo Buffa and Gio Ponti as one of the most relevant furniture designers of the Italian Mid-Century Modern era, Vittorio Dassi designed many different pieces ranging from chairs and tables to beds, sideboards and wardrobes. His style, often very close to that of Gio Ponti, integrates elements of the previous “art deco” tradition with cleaner, more sharp lines from the modern movement.

The present wardrobe, crafted in walnut, is a stunning example of his style: it mixes natural lacquer wood, a fluted panel finished in a very dark, almost black shade of brown, and six drawers alternate in white and black. Perfect as a standalone piece, elevated on four elegant brass feet, it is a beautifully preserved piece of Mid-Century Italian furniture.
