Vintage “Sommerso” Murano Bowl

Coming from the curated collection of Spinzi Milano, this beautiful Murano glass bowl combines two distinctive techniques developed by master glassmakers on the Italian island: the “Sommerso” and “Bullicante”.

“Sommerso”, Italian for “submerged”, indicates all those multi-coloured pieces that have distinct layers of different hues; the technique, invented and perfected by Flavio Poli for Seguso, allows to obtain some truly captivating pieces; the present bowl is attributed to glassmaker Galliano Ferro.

“Bullicante” is instead the name of Murano bowls, vases and sculptures that incorporate tiny air bubbles, blown into the molten glass during the creation of the piece to create the peculiar decorative pattern visible in the present piece.

It really shines under direct light, and the blue hue is as bright as it can be.
