Rare Flygsfors Centerpiece
Vintage 1950s Swedish vase, designed by Paul Kedelv for Flygsfors as part of the “Coquille” collection. It is big and has an attractive, elongated shape, highlighted by the vibrant tones of colour – orange and white stripes on the bottom half and a clear crystal edge.
It is very well preserved, with minor signs of age (little scratches mainly), and is otherwise in perfect conditions. The flat base is even and the piece is perfectly balanced and stable.
Flygsfors was a lesser known Swedish glassmaker originally born as industrial producer of window glass, and later turned to Art Glass under the creative direction of designer Paul Kedev. His pieces, rather scarce on the market, are becoming increasingly sought after. The Flygsfors brand ceased activities in 1979, five years after being acquired by another Swedish maker, Orrefors.
