Pierre Cardin X Venini “Egg”

Offered for sale is a rare and impressive “egg”, a decorative sculpture in thick and heavy Murano Glass designed in the 1960s by stylist Pierre Cardin (born in Venice as Pietro Cardin) and Venini creative director Ludovico Diaz de Santillana, who had married the daughter of the brand’s founder.

The piece, part of a series designed by the two aforementioned men, was subsequently produced on the island of Murano, in the Venini furnace.

It has been preserved in fantastic conditions, showing virtually no signs of age; it lays on a clear plexiglass disc which allows it to stand vertically or horizontally. The base elevates it and allows to admire in full its mesmerising finishing and the beautiful hues of colour that change depending on the light.

The diameter of the egg is 15cm and it is 24cm long.
