Murano Glass by Mario Pinzoni for Seguso
Murano Glass by Mario Pinzoni for Seguso – Large Amber “Sommerso” Bowl
A striking and perfectly preserved Murano glass decorative bowl in shades of light yellow and amber, attributed to Mario Pinzoni during his tenure as creative director at the renowned Seguso Vetri d’Arte furnace in Murano, Italy.
This large, heavy, and thick-walled bowl makes a refined centerpiece — its substantial weight and smooth, layered glass evoking an unmistakable sense of quality and craftsmanship. The piece remains in excellent condition, with only minimal signs of age, and stands as a true collector’s item.
Born in Venice in 1927, Mario Pinzoni trained as an architect before devoting himself to the art of glassmaking. Mentored by the legendary Flavio Poli, he later followed in his footsteps as artistic director of Seguso, mastering the Sommerso technique — where colored glass is encased within a transparent layer, creating a luminous, submerged effect that defines the elegance of Murano glass.
