Flavio Poli red sommeso murano vase

“Sommerso” is a defining style of Murano glassmaking, easily identified by the layers of different colours making up the finished piece. The technique, consisting in literally submerging molten glass into parts of different colours was created and perfectioned by designer Flavio Poli, during the time he spent as creative director of the Seguso furnace. The invention earned him the Golden Compass, the highest recognition for Italian designers.

This red sommerso Murano vase is preserved in very good conditions and is a wonderful example of what Poli used to design.
