Eugenio Carmi abstract painting
Abstract geometric painting, by Italian informal artist and graphic designer Eugenio Carmi, part of his early 1970s production and screen-printed in an edition of 100. This example, as certified by the numbering on the bottom left of the paper, is n°66. It is signed “Carmi 70” at the bottom right in a nod to the year of creation – indeed 1970.
The artwork consists of a 50×70 heavy paper sheet, screen printed with an abstract geometric composition of bright colored curved lines running inside a circle; these motifs are a recurring theme in Eugenio Carmi’s production, and can be found in most of his works from the 1970s up until the late 1990s.
The painting is framed in a minimal and very contemporary naked wood frame, only .5 centimeters thick, which leaves plenty of air and light to the artwork.
