Arnaldo Pomodoro engraving

Offered for sale is an extremely rare engraving by Italian modern and contemporary master Arnaldo Pomodoro, famed author of the well known discs, spheres and objects in bronze that unveil complex mechanical constructions underneath a seemingly plain surface.

Throughout his whole career, the work of Pomodor has focused on such intricate geometries which, while never depicting actual scenes, closely resemble industrial machinery and articulate mechanisms. He has been a prolific sculptor and painter, also measuring himself with architecture as he built the underground “Labyrinth” in Milano.

The present engraving is, more specifically, a chalcography. The deep relief of the depiction gives it an appealing “threedimensional” feel, and makes for a very unique effect under direct or indirect light. It dates to 1976, and is part of a very strict edition of fifteen pieces, as the roman number “XV” indicates at the bottom left. The piece is number six (VI) in the series.

It measures 30 by 40cm, and is professionally framed in a 58 by 44 cm white frame with glass. The engraving, as the frame, is in impeccable conditions.
