Vintage Murano “Sommerso” valet tray

Vintage 1960s Murano decorative bowl in clear and blue “Sommerso” glass. The “Sommerso” technique – literally “submerged” in Italian – has been invented by designer Flavio Poli and glassmaker Archimede Seguso in the 1950s; it consists in creating objects by layering several different glass colors, to achieve a finished product in which tinted glass seems to be indeed submerged in a clear main body.

The present bowl, coming in medium size, is very well preserved and has a distinct Mid-Century vibe to it. It’s perfect as a valet tray in an entryway, or as an accent on coffee tables, sideboards, bookshelves and more.
