“Sommerso” is a defining style of Murano glassmaking, easily identified by the layers of different colours making up the finished piece. The technique, consisting in literally submerging molten glass into parts of different colours was created and perfectioned by designer Flavio Poli, during the time he spent as creative director of the Seguso furnace. The invention earned him the Golden Compass, the highest recognition for Italian designers.
